Endured the ardous 2-hour ferry trip! Followed by an intidimating experience at the run-down Bintan ferry terminal and another 15 minute bus-ride through the streets of Bintan.
Our First Stop, where we were ushered to the lobby area and were served chilled sweet-tasting lychee drinks and cold towels.
Finally reached our destination after another 15-minute ride! 3D 2N at the Agro Beach & Spa Resort! Whoawee! Island-life!!
On our way to check in. Boy, were'nt we lucky! We were initially escorted to a room on the 2nd floor with a miserable window view and were quite disappointed. As we noticed that the 1st floor rooms came with a sae-view balcony, we immediately asked whether any of them were available. The resort staff was kind enough to check for us and tada! Managed to get a spacious room with a huge verenda looking over the vast blue sea.
After hearing horror stories of how bad and expensive the food at Bintan is, we brought our very own larder of cup noodles, canned food, potato chips and sparkling juice. Did not have much activities on our first day as we were suffering from 'ferry-lag'. Had a snooze, ate cup noodles at the verenda and watched some TV.
After our snooze and thrifty meal, we decided to drop by the resort's signature Kelong Restaurant. Pictures of da beautiful Kelong later!
Day Two
Buffet Breakfast at the resort's outdoor restaurant. Quite exceeded my expectations, I must say. The aromatic brewed coffee, the luscious mango juice (not diluted at all), savoury fried banana nuggets and not forgetting, their pipping hot chicken porridge! Yummy!
Couldn't resist a dip in the tempting pool to work off the calories after breakfast. The pool was only a few steps from our room, shiok! I must applaud the attentive staff, for bringing us long thick towels once they spotted us coming out of the pool. 5-star service!
Posing against the beach
We are so sporty, we can even play volleyball without a ball and oppenents. =P
Did some exploring beyond the beach and look what we found! Private thatched cottage-like houses! Just like what I imagined from my childhood fairytales... How I wish there is such a place to stay in Singapore.
Felt thirsty and decided to order a gargantuan coconut to quench our thirst.
So overwhelmed by the raised little huts with their straw-roof tops that we immediately signed up for a 1-hour aromatherapy massage.
Our massage parlour with a scenic view of the clear blue sky and sea. Our package consisted of an 1-hour full body massage using Lavender essential oil and a complimentary 15-minute jacuzzi. We could practically feel our muscles completely relaxed after the treat. At an reasonable price of S$37.00 per pax! See our skin shining after the oil massage?
Dinner at the Kelong Restaurant
Dining with a spectacularly breath-taking view. Being the typical kiasu native Singaporeans, we had already reserved our table plus dishes the night before, muahahaha!
A satiating meal at only S$38.50! The perfect finish to a fun-filled day. Blissful!
A cosy corner tucked behind the Kelong restaurant, ideal for nature-lovers to breathe in the fresh sea air and listen to the soothing sea waves splash against the strategically positioned rocks.
Totally missing every bit of Bintan. From their sunny yet windy weather, tasty cheap food, right down to the friendly resort staff.
